Jay Surina, Chief Financial Officer, leads NuScale Power’s finance function, including accounting, corporate finance, information technology, and corporate services.
Prior to joining NuScale, Jay was vice president, financial planning and analysis at Boart Longyear. He was instrumental in the 2007Boart Longyear initial public offering of shares in Australia. In that role he co-managed the mining services company’s global finance function and led strategic planning work.
Jay previously held executive positions in energy industry finance, with Texas Genco, Centrica North America, and Sithe Energies, including large equity/debt financing capital raising. He was co-founder and a managing partner of Cornerstone Energy Advisors, an advisory firm focused on the sale and financing of electric generating stations.
Jay graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. A former nuclear trained submarine officer, Jay is a retired Captain in the Naval Reserve Intelligence Program.
Keynote Presentation: NuScale Power for Clean Energy in Australia
NuScale Power is developing a new, modular light water reactor nuclear power plant to supply energy for district heating, desalination, and process heat applications. This groundbreaking small modular reactor (SMR) design features a fully factory fabricated NuScale Power Module capable of generating 60 MW of electricity using a safer, smaller, and scalable version of pressurized water reactor technology. The presentation will cover the basic technology behind the SMR, applications for reliable clean energy solutions, and the current status of commercialization and deployment.
